Robotics: Sensing, Thinking, Acting
Explore robotics! Learn the history of robotics and ffind out about the ethical dialogue emerging around modern robotics. You can also check out the studios of several Bay Area "robot artists," and play an on-line game.

Beyond Discovery
This site, from the National Academy of Sciences, explores the ways basic scientific research has resulted in unexpected and valuable applications. The design of the site is a bit dry, but the articles are great.

Thinking Machine 4
"Thinking Machine 4 explores the invisible, elusive nature of thought. Play chess against a transparent intelligence, its evolving thought process visible on the board before you."

Playing With Time
Playing With Time is an exciting, new project that looks at how the world around you is changing over many different time periods. The project consists of two major parts: this web site and a traveling museum exhibit. The site is being developed by Red Hill Studios. The exhibit is a collaboration between Red Hill and the Science Museum of Minnesota.

Strange Matter
This site explores materials science, "the study of stuff". "Meet a material (MR fluid) that can help keep buildings safer during earthquakes, and learn how hollow carbon molecules ("Buckyballs") may someday deliver drugs directly to sick cells in your body. You'll also find resources for teachers and activities for families to try at home. Developed by the Ontario Science Centre in conjunction with the Materials Research Society and the National Science Foundation.

Science & Development Network
Sponsored by Nature and Science magazines, this site reports on and discusses "those aspects of modern science and technology that are relevant to sustainable development and the social and economic needs of developing countries."

Transportation Futuristics
This virtual exhibit accompanies a gallery installation at UC Berkeley's Doe Library. It explores the marvelous things people have dreamt up to solve the basic problem of how to get from one place to another in the least amount of time with the least amount of trouble.

Tales of Future Past
A funny, and sometimes enlightening, look at what futurists from the past predicted our world would be like today.

Chip Technology

The nerve center for a computer or pervasive computing device is its integrated circuit — "chip" for short. Chips perform requested calculations, manage the internal flow of data and handle the data inputs from, and outputs to, the user.

For years, the chip industry has marched in lock step to Moore's Law, the projection that the number of transistors on integrated circuits would double every 18 months or so. This remarkable rate of advancement has resulted in smaller feature sizes; improved manufacturing techniques, which allow making larger chips and wafers; and more efficient circuit designs and materials, which allow better circuit performance. We conduct industry-leading research in each of these areas.

"Nautical Archaeology
The Nautical Archaeology Program at Texas A&M University provides all information on this incredible link. See first hand photos from the Sadana Island Shipwreck Excavation-INA Egypt, Bozburun Byzantine Shipwreck, Tantura Lagoon Shipwreck Excavation- INA Israel and more.

Echo Virtual Center
This is the most complete website for information on Science, Technology & Medicine. Take a stroll through an incredible virtual museum of the Invention of the Airplane, Educational Resources: Archaeology and History, Center for the History of Computing and much, much more.

NASA
"NASA is deeply committed to spreading the unique knowledge that flows from its aeronautics and space research."

Solar System Live
You can view the entire Solar System, or just the inner planets (through the orbit of Mars). Controls allow you to set time and date, viewpoint, observing location, orbital elements to track an asteroid or comets.
